Official: Moreno leaves Espanyol for PSV

Espanyol have officially sold defender Hector Moreno to Dutch champions PSV for a reported €5m.

The move had been in the pipelines for some time, with bureaucratic issues holding the deal up, but the defender is now finally a PSV player, according to Espanyol’s official website.

Contrary to reports, however, the fee received by Los Periquitos is expected to be partly reinvested into the squad, as opposed to covering their debt with Spanish treasury Hacienda.

Nonetheless, more than €2m will be allocated for agent Mino Raiola, who is owed money from Felipe Mattioni’s switch to Cornella-El Prat in 2010.

Moreno, 28, leaves Espanyol as an important member of their first team, having played almost 150 times for the club since his arrival from AZ in 2011.
