City enter Pedro race?

Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez with a €32m bid.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have tabled an offer of €30m plus €2m in variables for the 27-year-old, who remains intent on leaving Catalonia.

Manchester United had long been considered favourites for Pedro, the Red Devils bidding €25m plus €5m in variables plus the bonus of a verbal agreement with the player, but could ultimately lose out to their arch-rivals if the newspaper is to be believed.

Chelsea have also shown an interest in the Canary Islander, although they are not expected to return with a concrete offer.

Barca are reportedly unwilling to sell Pedro, despite sporting director Robert Fernandez’s recent admission, but the situation has been made difficult due to the forward’s €30m release clause, as agreed verbally.

For now, however, Pedro remains a Barca player and could yet feature in the Supercopa against Athletic Bilbao following an injury to Neymar.
