Official: Cuenca goes to Turkey

Former Barcelona starlet Isaac Cuenca has left Deportivo La Coruna in favour of a move to Turkish side Bursaspor.

The winger scored twice in 27 appearances for the Galicians last season but struggled to establish himself in the first team and will continue his career in the Super Lig.

“I arrive here, eager to feel important in football and help the team meet their objectives,” he was quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo.

Cuenca, 24, burst onto the scene at Barca during the 2011-12 campaign, but a loan spell at Ajax the following term was sabotaged by a knee injury, which recurred upon his return to Camp Nou.

The likes of Sevilla, Villarreal and Benfica were understood to have shown an interest in the forward, along with clubs in Belgium, Netherlands, Ukraine, Russia, Italy and even Mexico and the United Arab Emirates.

However, he has followed Samuel Eto’o to Turkey after passing a medical and signing a contract on Friday.
