River Plate President Rodolfo D’Onofrio has admitted that he “dreams” of Javier Mascherano returning for the Club World Cup in December.
The Barcelona midfielder, who has been linked with Serie A in recent days, began his career with Los Millonarios, whom the Catalans will face at the end of the year as a result of their Copa Libertadores triumph over Tigres on Thursday.
“Our desire is that Mascherano plays for River at the Club World Cup,” the patron was quoted as saying by the Argentine media after the game, as per Marca.
“It depends on him. We know that Javier has great appreciation for the club.”
