It’s claimed Premier League Arsenal are still considering a move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, but it would be costly and he may not accept anyway.
The Guardian say a late approach from the Gunners is a possibility even though Rafa Benitez has said more than once the France international isn’t going anywhere.
Arsene Wenger has also downplayed reports of interest in Benzema but the newspaper draws a parallel to Arsenal’s signing of Mesut Ozil from Madrid in 2013, which was only completed late in the transfer window.
Madrid though want to keep Benzema, in contrast to Ozil, and it would take a substantial offer to induce a change of mind.
Benzema also sees his future at the Santiago Bernabeu, although if he loses his place in the team under Benitez, that may change.
