Sergi Darder’s proposed move from Malaga to Lyon broke down when the fund that owns part of his rights called for a higher transfer fee.
Marca reports Malaga and Lyon agreed a price of €10m for the midfielder, only for the investment group that owns part of Darder’s contract to hold out for more money.
Lyon are instead expected to go for Alberto Aquilani, Marca say, although El Desmarque claim Malaga have rejected a second offer from the French club for the 21-year-old.
Malaga reportedly wanted €10m plus bonuses for Darder’s exit, and Lyon didn’t meet their demands, but a renewed approach isn’t ruled out.
