Arsene Wenger has denied speculation linking Arsenal with a swoop for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
AS reported on Sunday that the Gunners had set aside €65m for a late splurge on the Frenchman, but the 65-year-old did his best to play down the link after his side’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield.
"No, honestly no,” he said when quizzed on whether the reports were true.
Nonetheless, Wenger has been known for his coy responses to transfer speculation in the past.
