Atletico Madrid reportedly offered Oliver Torres to Porto in the Jackson Martinez transfer until Diego Simeone stepped in.
Sport quotes Porto President Pinto da Costa as telling Portuguese publication O Jogo about the dealings between the clubs this summer.
A €30m Atleti offer for left-back Alex Sandro was lodged, da Costa claimed, while Atletico’s initial offer for Colombia international Martinez involved youngster Torres.
“Atletico offered me Oliver for a two year loan in the Jackson transaction, but then backed off, saying the Coach wouldn’t let him go,” da Costa is quoted as saying.
“The Coach wants Oliver there, and that’s why we’re not thinking about him.”
