Benitez: Perez will deal with Ramos

Rafa Benitez has revealed that Florentino Perez will speak to Sergio Ramos in a bid to keep the Real Madrid defender from Manchester United’s clutches.

Speaking at a Press conference ahead of Los Blancos’ International Champions Cup friendly against Inter on Monday, the Coach also touched on the fitness of Luka Modric and Karim Benzema, selection headache concerning James Rodriguez and Isco, possibility of signing a Chinese youngster and his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo.

“During a meal, the President told me that he would chat with Sergio [Ramos],” he began.

“Naturally, of course, I’ve been focused on training and not spoken to the President.

“I’ve seen [Ramos] perform very well [in training] and even seen him score a spectacular goal.

“I have seen a very good attitude [from James Rodriguez] and he should play [on Monday].

“If I’m 100 percent honest, I haven’t decided [my team for Inter] yet. [Luka] Modric and [Karim] Benzema are in some discomfort, so we’ll see what they’re like tomorrow.

“[On possibly signing a Chinese youngster], we don’t talk about players at other clubs.

“As a Coach, I’m happy to have players like James and Isco [at my disposal], but they must work at 100% and then I’ll decide [who plays]. It’s a great selection headache to have.

“I’m very happy with the team because they’ve trained very strongly in Australia, helped by good facilities and a good temperature to work in.

“[On his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo], my relationship with him is very good.”
