Rafa Benitez has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo as the world’s best player and played down images of the Real Madrid forward’s training ground anger.
Ronaldo was reportedly unhappy Benitez disallowed a goal during a training session but the Coach dismissed the incident as nothing of note when speaking to reporters in Australia.
“After working with him you realise how competitive he is, how much he likes to win, the quality he has and that’s why he’s the best player in the world,” Benitez said, AS reports.
“I wish everyone had the same desire to compete and win. He shows it every day and I’m happy.
“My relationship with him is like with other players. I talk a lot with everyone, nothing special. Some people say this or that, but I assure you nothing happened. The relationship is completely normal.
“I always try to promote the players we have. Watching Cristiano closely and working with him, I understand the trophies he has won. He’s clearly the best in the world
“He’s competitive and that’s the key. It’s a virtue and not a problem.”
