Suarez defends Messi, Pedro

Luis Suarez has defended Lionel Messi from post-Copa America criticism and asked Pedro Rodriguez to stay at Barcelona.

Pedro has been strongly linked with a move away from Camp Nou this summer after his playing time was restricted by Suarez’s arrival in summer 2014.

Suarez has said, however, that he hopes the winger remains in Catalonia, but accepts he has a decision to make.

“It’s a personal decision and he should put a lot of thought into it, but I don’t want him to go,” Suarez said, AS reports.

On Messi, Suarez has questioned how the Argentina captain could be condemned after failing to lead his country to continental success, the Argentines beaten on penalties by Chile in the final.

“It’s conceivable to criticise the best player in the world. We’re all human and Leo was the first to want to win the trophy,” he argued.

Suarez also outlined his objectives for the season after landing the treble in his first Barca campaign.

The Club World Cup, European Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup are up for grabs as well this year and Suarez has them in his sights.

“I want to win everything this season,” he revealed.
