Pedro: No Chelsea talks, but…

Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez has played down links with Chelsea but admits “it’s true that both parties decided to reduce my release clause”.

Reports on Sunday suggested the Blues had entered the race to sign the 27-year-old, who in turn engineered a drop in his buyout threshold from 150m to 30m, and he made no secret that he was considering his future again, despite extending his contract last month.

“It’s true that both parties decided to reduce my release clause, and it’s true that there are offers,” he told reporters.

“I’m in a difficult situation at Barcelona, but I don’t want to jump the gun. I just want to start working with my teammates again.

“I’m not thinking about the future. For now, I want to rest and be quiet before starting pre-season with my teammates on Wednesday. We’ll then see what happens.

“I haven’t spoken to [Jose] Mourinho, but I don’t want to say anything else because it would be disrespectful to my club, Barcelona.”
