Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu has hailed his club’s signing of Arda Turan, describing it as ‘great news.’
The Turkish international heads to Camp Nou from Atletico Madrid, though he will not be able to make his Blaugrana debut until January owing to the Catalan giants’ transfer embargo.
However, despite the prolonged wait to see Turan and fellow new signing Aleix Vidal in action, Bartomeu stressed the need to support Coach Luis Enrique following Barca’s historic treble-winning season.
“The signing of Arda is great news for everyone connected with Barcelona,” the 52-year-old wrote on social media. “We need to support Luis Enrique’s project.
“Luis Enrique asked for two players and he has them. It’s a great day after winning the Champions League.”
Bartomeu will stand for re-election as Barca President later this month.
