Barcelona have announced the departure of Martin Montoya to Inter on an initial season-long loan, with the option of a permanent deal in 2017.
A statement on La Blaugrana’s official website reads that the loan will be automatically renewed for an extra season if he appears in a certain number of games, while the fee for a permanent deal is reportedly set at €8m.
Montoy has long been linked with an exit from Barca following his continued failure to establish himself in the first team, with Dani Alves remaining the side’s first-choice right-back and Aleix Vidal recently joining from Sevilla.
He made just 12 appearances in 2014-15 and 67 over the past five seasons since making his debut in February 2011 as a substitute for Adriano against Mallorca.
