CBF: Neymar decision unusual

The Brazilian Football Federation has expressed its belief that the four-match ban given to Neymar for his post-Colombia antics at Copa America is “unusual”.

The Barcelona forward will miss the remainder of the tournament after being retrospectively punished for kicking the ball at Pablo Armero following the Selecao’s 1-0 defeat to Colombia, before appearing to head-butt Jeison Murillo and reportedly insulting referee Enrique Osses in the tunnel.

“The decision is unusual. Neymar was pursued on the pitch [all game], yet nothing happened to his opponents,” the CBF’s legal director Carlos Eugenio Lopes told the Brazilian media.

Brazil, who play Venezuela in their final group match on Sunday, are now expected to appeal the decision to CONMEBOL.
