Majo wants Laudrup at Barca

Jordi Majo has revealed that Michael Laudrup will be brought in as sporting director if he wins Barcelona’s presidential elections.

The former Blaugrana star, who also represented Real Madrid in an illustrious playing career, has extensive coaching experience with the likes of Getafe, Mallorca and Swansea, recently departing Qatari club Lekhwiya, but has never occupied an upstairs position.

“[Laudrup] signed a preliminary contract a month and a half ago to be the club’s sporting director,” the candidate told reporters.

“I chose Laudrup for the person he is, not his name. He’s intelligent, has experience, knows the Barcelona culture and gets along with [Johan] Cruyff.

“I don’t care about his Real Madrid past because I know he’s Barcelona at heart and anyone who doubts this can simply ask him at the Press conference that we’re arranging with him.”
