Michael Laudrup ‘turned down’ Real Madrid approach

Former Real Madrid player Michael Laudrup reportedly rejected the opportunity to be appointed the club’s new interim Coach.

The Dane is currently out of work after leaving Qatari club Al-Rayyan earlier this year while Santiago Solari is in the temporary position as Madrid Coach following Julen Lopetegui’s sacking on Monday.

“He is not looking for the chance to Coach Madrid, not in these circumstances,” Laudrup’s agent Byram Tutumlu told Diario AS.

“This is not the right time for such a role, you just need to look at how the situation at the club is at the moment.

“He loves Real Madrid and he would be delighted to them in the future.”

Laudrup has previous managerial experience in Spain with Getafe and Real Mallorca while also enjoying stints at Brondby, Spartak Moscow, Swansea City and Lekhwiya.
