Carles Puyol has made it clear that he will not be used as a pawn by any of Barcelona’s potential Presidents in the upcoming elections.
The former defender had been expected to assume a role in Joan Laporta’s campaign trail, with the 52-year-old announcing his desire to re-stand for presidency on Wednesday.
“I won’t side with any candidate,” he said at a charity golf event on Thursday.
“I have very good relationship with [Joan Laporta], I experienced the best moments of my life under him.
“I’m here if Barca need me. I have a lot projects on the table, but I want to take my time before making a decision.”
Puyol left his previous position as Barca’s assistant sporting director in January following the departure of Andoni Zubizarreta.
