Neymar feels victimised by Copa refs

Brazil and Barcelona forward Neymar has complained of his treatment of Copa America referees after being sent off against Colombia.

Neymar was dismissed, along with Sevilla’s Carlos Bacca, for his part in a skirmish after the final whistle that was sparked when he forcefully kicked the ball into the back of an opponent following the 1-0 defeat.

He had previously been booked for handball and accused the tournament referees of being overly harsh in dealing with him.

“They’re using the rules too much against me,” he said, AS reports.

“The ball hit my hand unintentionally and I was given a yellow. I’d say it was a weak referee.

“There was confusion [in the post-match scuffle] but there was no need to send everyone off. I was pushed. I didn’t see the red card. It happens.

“I admit we didn’t play well and I didn’t play well. I take full responsibility.”
