Alves replaces Danilo in Brazil squad

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has been called into the Brazil squad to replace the injured Danilo, who is bound for Real Madrid.

Madrid confirmed the signing of the Porto defender before the end of the season but Danilo has been ruled out of the Copa America with a sprained ankle, AS reports.

Danilo was injured in the weekend friendly with Honduras and won’t travel with the squad to Chile. Instead, he will eventually make his way to Madrid for treatment from his new employers.

Alves’ call-up marks his first involvement with the national team since Brazil lost 7-1 to Germany in the 2014 World Cup.
