Dani Alves is relishing the chance to compete with Aleix Vidal for a place in the Barcelona team. “He is a great player and deserves to be here.”
Vidal was early in the week confirmed as a Barca player, signed from Sevilla, despite the Catalans’ transfer embargo meaning he can’t be registered until January 2016.
Alves had been expected to leave Camp Nou this summer when his contract expired but performed an about-turn and re-signed on Tuesday.
The right-back told a Press conference he isn’t concerned by the arrival of the Spain international, welcoming another challenger to his place in the team.
“I love when people come here to contribute to our team. It makes me compete and the more difficult it is, the more competitive I am,” he said, AS reports.
“He’s a great player and he isn’t here by accident. He deserves to be here. Either I make him better or he makes me better because we’re going to break ourselves for the team and we’ll contribute different things.
“When I can help him I will and he will help me. He’s welcome here and we can continue to make history at Barca.”
