Filipe Luis ‘turns down Madrid’

Filipe Luis has rejected an approach from Real Madrid as if he leaves Chelsea, it will only be for former club Atletico Madrid.

The Brazil left-back quit Vicente Calderon for Stamford Bridge a year ago and has been linked with a return after struggling to dislodge Cesar Azpilicueta in Jose Mourinho’s side.

Marca reports Los Blancos made their interest in his services known via a third party but Luis told his agent Jorge Mendes that the move was a non-starter.

Luis is reported to have said that he wouldn’t go back to Madrid if it wasn’t for Atleti, and he will only leave the Premier League champions to go back to Diego Simeone, declining to even negotiate with his suitors.

Simeone wants to be reunited with Luis too, Marca add, but the move wouldn’t be straightforward.

There are only two options for Luis next season, however – the Blues or Los Rojiblancos.
