Andres Iniesta admitted “there are no words to describe what we’ve achieved” after Barcelona’s Champions League triumph against Juventus on Saturday.
The Catalans defeated the Old Lady 3-1 at the Olympiastadion to secure their second treble, just six years since their first, and the midfielder – who will replace Xavi Hernandez as captain from next season – struggled to find the superlatives worthy of describing their feat.
“We don’t realise what we’ve achieved yet,” he said after the game.
“In time, we’ll value it more. Now, the most important thing is that we all enjoy [this treble] as much as we can because it was difficult to achieve.
“It was the right time [for Xavi] to lift the trophy and end his Barcelona career with the Champions League. It’s the best farewell for a unique player [like him].
“I’m proud to be a part of this team and club. Now what’s left is pride and happiness.
“There are no words to describe what we’ve achieved. It seemed difficult to get the treble, but we did it again.”
