Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao has moved to deny speculation linking him with a summer move to Sporting Lisbon.
The Portugal international continues to find himself firmly behind Marcelo at the Santiago Bernabeu, leading to reports the capital club were ready to swoop for his services.
However, the defender has made it clear that Benfica, whom Madrid paid €30m in July 2011, are the only team he would consider joining in his homeland.
“I wish to deny the rumours that I’m joining Sporting,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.
“Despite the respect I have for all Portuguese clubs, the only Portuguese club I’d play for are Benfica.”
