Official: Emery signs Sevilla extension

Sevilla have announced that Unai Emery has extended his contract until 2017, thus ending speculation about the Coach’s future.

The 43-year-old had been linked with numerous positions, including those at Milan, Napoli and Manchester City, in recent weeks, but he has decided to stay loyal to the Andalucians.

According to AS, Emery, whose previous deal was due to expire next year, has been rewarded with an improved salary of around €2.5m per season to make him the best-paid Coach in Sevilla’s history.

However, the newspaper also claims that he will be allowed to leave the club without compensation if he decides to move on at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

Since replacing Marcelino in January 2013, the former Almeria and Valencia boss has guided Sevilla to back-to-back Europa Leagues and as many fifth-place finishes in La Liga.
