Unai Emery has praised Sevilla’s season after they ended the League campaign with a 3-2 win at Malaga.
Sevilla still have the Europa League final to come against Dnipro and could qualify for the Champions League should they retain the trophy.
They missed out on fourth place in La Liga but Emery spoke with satisfaction after the final whistle blew on the Primera.
“We must be very proud of the team’s great season – the level of commitment, competitiveness and performance. We maintained credibility until the last moment,” he said, AS reports.
“76 points at one time gave you the League and this gives us fifth. It’s not a complete joy but we have to be happy.
“I’m very proud of the team, the players and the fans. The biggest thing is the chemistry and we can’t lose that.
“There were ways teams did better and we have to congratulate them, but the work we have done dignifies us all season.
“I like the atmosphere at Malaga and it makes you grow and mature. They’ve had a great season although seventh place has eluded them.
“It was a great match, very tense, but that’s part of football, learning to control your emotions.
“We’re a team that wants to grow. A lot of players see an historic opportunity. I look forward to the work and living the moment.
“It’s demanding but rewarding. This is an enchanting group.”
