Lopez confesses Ancelotti admiration

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez has confessed his admiration for Carlo Ancelotti as links between the Coach and Milan gather pace.

The 33-year-old won both the Copa del Rey and Champions League under the Italian last season, but despite being moved on to the Rossoneri the following summer, he has nothing but respect for his former mentor.

“Carlo Ancelotti is a great Coach and among the top three in the world, if not the best,” he told reporters.

[However], I’m a little hesitant to be talking about this because the season still hasn’t finished.

“[Milan] still have two games left. [Filippo] Inzaghi’s our Coach for now and we have to stick with him until death. The club will then make a decision.”

Ancelotti, 54, is arguably best known for his spell at Milan, where he lifted one Serie A and two Champions Leagues between 2001 and 2009, and is being tipped to take over a second time as his position at Madrid remains on a knife edge.

He reportedly met with Milan consultant Ernesto Bronzetti on Thursday night to discuss a potential return, while President Silvio Berlusconi is understood to have offered him a three-year contract over the phone.
