Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez is one of the names being linked with the coaching role at Marseille.
The Ligue 1 outfit are understood to be contemplating relieving Marcelo Bielsa of his duties come the end of the season if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, with Jemez’s name one that features on their list.
The 45-year-old, who has steered Rayo into a comfortable mid-table position this term despite operating on one of La Liga’s smallest budgets, has gained a reputation for putting together teams that play entertaining, attacking football, and is happy in Madrid.
However, he indicated at the weekend that the chances of him remaining at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas are becoming increasingly remote.
Jemez feels that after three years at the helm the club’s vision of the future and the way forward does not match his own. As a result, it is understood he will he consider his options in the summer.
Recent reports have suggested there is interest in him not only from Spain but also the Premier League, with Newcastle United having been touted as a possible destination.
