Xavi Hernandez will hold a Press conference on Thursday to announce that he will leave Barcelona for Al Sadd this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The midfielder has long been linked with a move to Qatar, and the newspaper claims he will formalise the speculation later this week.
Although his contract expires in 2016, the Catalans have given him his blessing to cut his deal short in order to follow in the footsteps of former Real Madrid rival Raul Gonzalez.
As previously reported by Football Espana, the 35-year-old will also undertake a future role at Qatar’s Aspire Academy, which looks to nurture the country’s best young talent.
Xavi’s role at Barca has diminished this term after being displaced by Ivan Rakitic, but he has enjoyed a series of substitute appearances in recent weeks.
