Gundogan quiet on Barca spotting

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has refused to deny whether he was in Barcelona ahead of a possible January transfer.

The Germany international was spotted in Catalonia on Monday for reasons unknown, but he responded to the speculation with a simple ‘no-comment’.

“I have nothing to declare,” he maintained to Bild.

Barca travelled to Munich on Monday for their Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern, meaning any meeting with the club’s hierarchy would have gone unnoticed.

The 24-year-old announced last month that he would not be renewing his contract with Dortmund, leaving the door open to a departure in either the summer or January.

Consequently, he has been linked with numerous clubs in England and Spain, including Atletico Madrid, but Mundo Deportivo claims Barca are most certainly in the running.

Gundogan reportedly has a market value of €20m but could also leave on a Bosman free transfer next summer, although BVB may be loathe to lose a second star after Robert Lewandowski for nothing.
