‘Granada not safe yet’

Jose Ramon Sandoval has warned Granada against believing they’re safe from relegation after the win over already-down Cordoba.

El Grana triumphed 2-0 through Diego Mainz and Youssef El-Arabi, while Los Califas ended with nine men after Inigo Lopez and Fede Cartabia were dismissed.

“We could have gotten the first goal sooner but we continued to work with faith and they dropped deeper after the sending off,” Sandoval explained after the match, according to AS.

“With the second goal and second sending off the game was over and, in the end, it was best to keep possession and avoid bookings or injuries.

“The patient has hope of life but we can’t be over confident. We have to keep both feet firmly on the ground. We’re wrong if we think we’ve already achieved safety.

“I came here because I believed in what is happening with this squad and these players. I knew I’d have the team to at least fight for safety but we have to continue working without overconfidence.”
