Iniesta: It wasn’t easy

Andres Iniesta insists Barcelona were made to work for their 2-0 Champions League quarter-final win over Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar scored both goals as La Blaugrana wrapped up a 5-1 aggregate triumph to reach the last four, his first goal created by a beautiful Iniesta dribble, Neymar claiming his teammate ‘did all the work.’

Iniesta was asked by television reporters after the match if his display against the French side meant the ‘old Iniesta’ had returned.

“No, I never left, but people see it one way or another,” he replied, AS reports.

“I always try to do well. I’m with how things are going. I think everyone can always improve. They will be very nice semi-finals.

“We’re pleased to qualify. It’s another semi-final. I’m happy to be involved. It was a good day for everyone.

“It wasn’t an easy game but we approached it well. We came with intensity and took the game very seriously.

“It’s not that it’s hard when the [first leg] result is in your favour but when it is in your favour it makes you relax a little and that can be dangerous.

“Sometimes these games can be complicated and football sometimes has surprises. We knew that would happen if they scored.

“We’re going into the semi-finals in good form. We’ve gone from low to high as we should do and good results give you the confidence to keep going.

“We’re in good form but it’s the little details that decide things.

“It’s important [to reach an eighth semi-final in 10 years] at a club this stature and with these players. We’re there and we have to be in the hypothetical final.

“It’s difficult to talk about favourites with the teams left. We have to try to do things as we have been.”
