No fractured cheekbone for Silva

David Silva has avoided serious injury after an incident with Cheikhou Kouyate during Manchester City’s win over West Ham.

Silva had to be stretchered off in the 2-0 victory after he was caught by the midfielder’s elbow, with initial fears he had fractured his cheekbone.

But the BBC reports that isn’t the case after the Spain international underwent tests in hospital.

It’s not yet known if Silva will be available for City’s next game, against Aston Villa, and he will continue to be monitored closely.

Manuel Pellegrini, the City manager, said after the match that Kouyate didn’t intend to hurt the former Valencia playmaker.
