Pele has revealed that if he was forced to choose between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, he would pick the Barcelona man.
The Brazil icon appeared as a guest on Onda Cero and was asked where he stood in the perennial battle between the Real Madrid forward and the Argentine, and at first shied away from comparing the two.
“It’s not that I like Messi or Cristiano more. When people ask me I tell them you can’t compare them,” Pele said, AS reports.
“Cristiano is a great player, more of a forward, more in the penalty area. Messi is a player who scores goals but is also a weapon from deeper.
“On my team they would both be important but if I had to choose one, it would be Messi.”
Pele went on to discuss compatriot Neymar and revealed how close he came to joining Madrid and Barca.
