Navas ‘blessed’ to take Madrid chance

Keylor Navas has admitted that he was ‘blessed’ to keep goal for Real Madrid in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Eibar.

The Costa Rican was given a rare start against the Basques and came through unscathed, despite a late collision with Pepe and Federico Piovaccari, which threatened to leave Los Blancos without a shot-stopper in the latter stages.

“I’m fine, it was just a blow. I have a headache and neckache but nothing serious,” he told reporters.

“Luckily my teammates did well. We play with the necessary confidence and reliability to win games.

“We can’t give any more than we did [on Saturday] and we must win [all of our remaining matches].

“We are eager for opportunities [in the starting XI]. Being at Madrid is a source of pride and to go out and play here is a blessing.

“My teammates showed we could take advantage of opportunities [in the first team].

“We’ll beat Atletico [Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals]. That’s our mentality.

“We’ll go all out to win and we must approach both legs with importance and humility.”
