Europe still on Moyes’ radar

David Moyes has vowed that Real Sociedad will continue their pursuit of European qualification when Deportivo La Coruna travel to Anoeta on Sunday.

UEFA secretary Gianni Infantino recently dashed La Real’s hopes of qualifying for the Europa League via eighth place in the event Sevilla defended their title, but the Scot still believes his side can make up the ground on Malaga, providing Athletic Bilbao do not win the Copa del Rey.

“Our first objective was to be as far away from the relegation zone as possible, and we’ve achieved that,” he said at a Press conference.

“I want to take La Real to Europe [one day], but for now I want to finish this season in as high a position as possible. Europe’s difficult [this season], but we’ll keep trying.

“I hope to have all my players back [for Deportivo], but [Alfred Finnbogason] may have a knock and this match may come too soon for [Carlos] Vela.

“Deportivo come into this match with a new Coach [Victor Sanchez], but I’m only focusing on preparing my own team.”
