Emilio Butragueno insists Cristiano Ronaldo is a role model for youngsters due to the professionalism he shows.
Real Madrid’s director of institutional relations saw the Portuguese score one goal and set up James Rodriguez for the second in the 2-0 victory at Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, and believes he is someone to be held up as an example.
“Cristiano as a professional is an inspiration and example for children,” the former Madrid striker told Canal Plus.
“I imagine what he wants is to do is always score goals and that boundless ambition contributes positively to a team that wants to win.”
Butragueno felt the win against Rayo keeps alive Los Blancos’ hopes of winning the title.
“There are still eight games left and they are all finals. We’ve got to win them all. We faced a good team in Rayo and in the second half we played much better, particularly in the first 30 minutes.
“The pitch was very quick and it wasn’t easy to control the ball. They were on top of us early on but Iker Casillas was very secure and that should be highlighted.
“I imagine that things were said at half time and it was very important for us to eventually achieve a victory.”
