Alves in new Barca talks

Dinorah Santa Ana, Dani Alves’ agent and former wife, has sat down to discuss a new deal with Barcelona for the Brazilian right-back.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Santa Ana held a two-hour meeting with club representatives on Wednesday night to investigate the possibility of the 31-year-old remaining at the Camp Nou, and afterwards she explained what had taken place.

“Dani wants to stay but Barcelona’s proposal is the lowest he has received and we’ll now have to see if Barca approve of what we have spoken about.

“If their offer is more meaningful then Dani will stay. If it had been all about money and a longer contract then he would already have gone.

“This can’t go on. I’ll speak to Dani and then we’ll meet the club again. We can’t wait for other teams any longer,” she stressed to reporters.

Recent reports have linked Alves with a possible move to Paris Saint-Germain but the Ligue 1 giants have announced they are not interested in bringing the player to the Parc des Princes, while Barca boss Luis Enrique has indicated he would like him to stay with the Catalans.

According to journalist Adria Albets on Cadena SER’s ‘La Graderia’ programme, Barca have offered Alves a 12-month agreement with the option of an additional year, even though he is asking for a three-year contract as his existing one with the Blaugrana expires on June 30 this year.

In contrast, Sport maintains that Alves has practically closed a deal with an unnamed Premier League outfit, despite his main concern being to listen to Barcelona as it is understood that deep down he does not wish to abandon the club.
