Moyes laments ‘cheap’ goal

Real Sociedad boss David Moyes rued “how cheaply we sold Malaga their goal” during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at La Rosaleda.

Recio put the Andalucians ahead from a set-piece on the stroke of an hour, but Ruben Pardo’s strike with only seven minutes remaining earned La Real a point, which the Scot felt they richly deserved.

“We worked very hard to get the draw because Malaga were exceptional for around 20 minutes and we deserved a point [for our efforts],” he said after the game.

“The worst thing was how cheaply we sold Malaga their goal because we don’t usually concede goals like this. It cost us dearly."

“The squad players had a big role to play and everyone contributed, but they’re very upset with the type of goal they conceded. It was disappointing.

“Our first objective was to avoid relegation. Since then, we’ve been improving and climbing up th table.

“If we manage to reach seventh place then that’s great, but it’s not a big deal if we don’t.”
