Napoli have rubbished reports linking Jose Callejon with a move to Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.
According to Cadena SER on Thursday, the Spanish forward had agreed a €20m summer switch to Los Colchoneros.
Marca then attempted to verify the claims, only to receive rebuttals from the player’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon.
“Following a report released today by the Spanish radio station ‘Cadena SER’ concerning alleged statements attributed to Jose Maria Callejon and then picked up by other media outlets, Napoli can confirm that this report is completely unfounded,” read a statement on Napoli’s official website.
“Callejon himself has categorically denied these statements attributed to him and expressed his disbelief at how [the media] have invented these reports.”
Callejon, 28, has scored 29 goals in 78 appearances for the Partenopei since arriving from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 and made his Spain debut earlier in the season.
