Porto boss Julen Lopetegui has paid tribute to Danilo ahead of his €31.5m switch to Real Madrid at the end of the season.
The right-back will join Los Blancos on a six-year deal this summer, and the former Spain Under-21 Coach outlined the huge improvements made by the Samba starlet during his reign.
“This year, he’s shown a willingness to improve in all aspects of the game, tactically, physically and in regards to his concentration,” he told reporters.
“He’s also helped the team improve in a collective sense.
“He’s progressed very quickly because he’s understood what we asked of him and, like the rest of the team, wanted to improve both himself and Porto, despite being a young player.”
Porto President Pinto da Costa has become renowned for his policy of unearthing gems and selling them on for a significant profit.
“The Coach already knew the club’s strategy [in the transfer market] and has had to adapt to what we’ve given him,” the patron added.
“That allows us to work with young players and motivates us to polish and perfect them.”
