Gareth Bale says he can handle the pressure at Real Madrid following recent criticism of his performances for Los Blancos.
The under-fire Welshman put on a dazzling display for his country in their 3-0 victory in Israel at the weekend, scoring twice, and he believes he can ride out the storm at the Santiago Bernabeu and prove his detractors wrong.
“I don’t need to answer the critics. I know, and everyone around me knows, just what I can do,” Bale told reporters.
“In football there are ups and downs and you’ve got to take it with a pinch of salt. All you can do is respond with your performances on the pitch.
“I don’t feel as if I need to prove anyone right or wrong. I just need to play my football. The most important thing is that I focus on that and I love playing for Wales.
“I don’t listen to anyone else or what they are saying. I’m just enjoying my football with the boys.”
