Benzema: I can win Ballon d’Or

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has claimed that he can still win the Ballon d'Or "if I keep winning titles".

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have both dominated the running for the title of the world's best player since 2008, but the Frenchman believes he is capable of ending their hegemony, despite turning 28 later this year.

"If I keep winning titles then yes, I can win [the Ballon d'Or] in the future," he told Le Parisien.

"There are Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, the two best players in the world, above me.

"I know I won't reach 80 or 100 goals a season. After them, there are many players who are also worth [the award].

"I can put myself in the world's top five, but I certainly don't know [if I deserve to be there].

"[On the topic of joining Paris Saint-Germain one day], PSG are a great team, that's all.

"For Barca, [the quarter-finals] be more complicated than usual because Paris Saint-Germain have increased their prestige in the Champions League [this season].

"It'll be difficult for Barca. PSG have every chance of progressing."
