Ernesto Valverde says he is relishing the prospect of Athletic Bilbao contesting the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona at Camp Nou.
The Catalan venue will host the competition decider on May 30 after Real Madrid refused to permit use of the Santiago Bernabeu, thereby handing home advantage to La Blaugrana.
However, the Coach is hopeful Athletic can benefit from Barca playing on their own patch as Copa glory will now be considered even more prestigious.
“The truth is that the more I think [about a Camp Nou final], the more I like it,” he told Athletic's official website.
“If we can beat them at their place, it'd be something that everyone would remember for many years.
“[Contesting the Copa final at] Camp Nou is a difficult scenario for us from a sporting point of view, but also a very good one from a social point of view because lots of fans and almost all Athletic's members will be there.
“I say that I like [the idea] more and more because, knowing the size of our opponents and playing on their pitch, the chance of [achieving Copa glory] in this manner is one you don't get every day.
“We already knew that Barcelona would be the favourites. Now, maybe they are a little more.”
