Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo could be in hot water for his goal celebration during Sunday’s Clasico at Barcelona.
Ronaldo appeared to advise Barca fans to calm down after striking Madrid’s 31st-minute equaliser at the Camp Nou and Spanish League President Javier Tebas has warned him he could face punishment for the gesture.
“We have to be careful with provocative gestures by a player when he scores a goal, or indeed with any other provocation or conduct that could incite violence among spectators.
“These things must be sanctioned with anything from a fine to a suspension,” said Tebas.
Spain’s football authorities have clamped down on any actions from either players or fans that might be deemed provocative since the death of a Deportivo la Coruna supporter before a La Liga match with Atletico Madrid last November.
