Madrid snap up Argentina goalkeeper

Real Madrid are understood to have agreed a deal to sign Argentine ‘keeper Augusto Batalla this summer.

The River Plate youngster will join Los Blancos on a season-long loan, according to Ovacion, with an option to make the move permanent should he impress with the European champions.

“The contract has not yet been signed but in June the player will be loaned to Real Madrid for a year, with an option to purchase for a very high fee,” River President Rodolfo D’Onofrio told the publication.

Batalla, 18, is an Argentina Under-20 international and could mean Los Blancos are looking beyond signing Manchester United stopper David De Gea, who has been strongly linked with a return to the Spanish capital following his impressive form when at Atletico Madrid.
