‘Valencia banking on home form’

Nuno Santo has claimed that Valencia’s home form will decide their Champions League fate following Friday’s 2-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruna.

Los Che recorded their seventh straight win at Mestalla thanks to goals from Dani Parejo and Paco Alcacer against the Galicians, and the Coach called on his side to preserve their strong run of results for the remainder of the season.

“I think it was a good game. In the first half we struggled to impose ourselves, but in the second we did a great job in attack, defence and with high pressure,” he told reporters.

“Keeping a clean sheet at Mestalla is important and the fans helped us a lot, so the objective is to continue being this strong at home.

“Moreover, even though we went 2-0 up, I liked how our opponents kept going. It was fantastic.

According to Marca, Nuno also felt the team were growing game by game and that the goals would soon follow for injury-plagued striker Alvaro Negredo.

In addition, the Portuguese noted how Valencia owner Peter Lim congratulated the squad after the game and highlighted continuous improvement as their secret ingredient.
