Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi believed the point his team took from the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid was a good one.
A bad-tempered affair saw 13 yellow cards produced and Los Che midfielder Javi Fuego dismissed towards the end, with Otamendi admitting it had been a rough game and the point should serve Valencia well in their fight for a Champions League place.
“We know Atletico are a team that likes to keep possession, while they are aggressive and well organised, so a draw was a fair result,” the Argentine told Canal Plus.
“The styles of the two teams are similar, to be aggressive at the back and then play. For us, after ending up with 10 men, this point is a positive one.
“I don’t know if there were too many yellow cards but it was bad we lost such a key player in Javi Fuego,” he conceded.
