Moyes: ‘La Real deserved it’

David Moyes felt his Real Sociedad side was full value for the narrow 1-0 win over Espanyol at Anoeta on Sunday.

A mistake by visiting goalkeeper Kiko Casilla on 38 minutes proved costly as it set up Sergio Canales for what proved to be the only goal of the game, with Moyes insisting it was a fully deserved victory.

“I think we did a good job, although we wanted more goals, but we tried really hard in the second half,” the Scot told reporters.

“We are missing Carlos Vela in games like this, where we need to finish teams off, but I don’t think we’ll have any trouble staying up this season and will start to climb the table if we can finally win away from home.

“I’d have liked to have reached 30 points sooner and we still can’t feel safe with the three we got today. However, we’ll be trying something different for next week’s game against Getafe.”
