Former Barcelona striker Patrick Kluivert has hailed Luis Suarez’s predatory instincts following his brace against Manchester City in the Champions League.
The Uruguayan netted two away goals in La Blaugrana’s 2-1 victory on Tuesday to give his side the advantage in their last-16 tie with the Premier League champions.
“Suarez is there when you need him,” the ex-Netherlands international, who represented Barca between 1998 and 2004, winning two La Liga titles, told Goal.com.
“Barcelona signed him for this reason. He’s proven that he has great quality.
“Although he received the ball with a bit of luck because it bounced off his marker [in reference to the first goal], he still finished it off very easily.
“The second goal was the culmination of a great attack. He waited for the right moment and finished it very well.
“Both [Real] Madrid and Barcelona are excellent. Barca dominated the Etihad.
“It's beautiful watching them play. They’re one of the favourites [for the Champions League] alongside Madrid and Bayern [Munich].”
